Weider Platinum Plus Home Gym Review

Wow, and that is a big wow. The Weider Platinum Plus is a concept home gym for the future of home gyms. It is elegant, intelligent and a personal trainer for even the most demanding users of home gyms.

It is a bit high tech if you are used to old school gym muscle building machines, but its high tech features are all user friendly and anyone can learn to use them in a few minutes, after that you will be able to personalize your workout sessions and focus them on your own pre defined goals.

World’s first electronically controlled home gym

At the back of the bench of the Weider Platinum Plus you will find a digital control panel that with a few push of buttons can program your workout session. You can control the resistance with increments of 1 pound each, up to 240 pounds, or 340 pounds if you upgrade it. On normal home gyms the best you can get are resistance adjustments of 5 or 10 pounds each.

The resistance is performed by the cross bar, eliminating accident prone pins and stacked weights that easily injure hands and fingers. You only have to worry about pulleys, cables and the cross bar. It comes with a curl bar, curl pad and a leg attachment for preacher and hamstring curls.

It has 9 workout programs already in there, or you can set up your own complete workout program. From strength to toning and cardio programs, plus 75 exercises that will work your entire body and keep you out of the gym forever, you can kiss that card goodbye.

The Weider Platinum Plus features a high and low pulley, to which you can attach a pair of handles to work out your arms. The design provides a full range of movements that will maximize your efforts and will adapt to your personal training routine.

It weighs above 300 pounds, so you will need someone else to help you assemble it, but it can be easily folded for storage purposes after it has been used. Not really a deal breaker, but it doesn’t have a pec dec and the bar for lat pull downs has to be bought separately.

Weider Platinum Plus at a Glance…

Pros:

  1. 9 goal specific fitness routines
  2. Digitally built in personal trainer
  3. Works every part of the body

Cons:

  1. Assembly will take time and is a bit hard to do
  2. Does not include a Pec Dec
  3. The 855’’ height may make it difficult to fit 7’ high rooms

Seriously, it is a bit too much high tech after a few weeks working on it. For most users it will put them off and go for more reliable system with traditional resistance systems. Even so, it is great for other users to have ways to control their workouts and the digital console can help developing routines that effectively workout your entire body.

Is the replacement cord for the Platinum Plus 1000 available?
If so, how much does it cost and how long to receive it?
