Marcy Smith Machine Review

The Marcy Smith Machine is easily found at any CostCo store nationwide. That means something about this gym, it is sold at a low price and it has also the quality you would expect from such a big machine with a low price, the quality isn’t that great.

It is a good all-in-one solution for someone looking for an affordable gym equipment to have in the house, but can’t extend much the family budget. For an entry level home gym it may be an option if you are a beginner and want to try this sort of multi gyms in your house. But don’t expect too much and not as much quality as other Home Gyms.

Not the best Home Gym on offer out there

The Marcy Smith Machine looks good on a catalog and it has an impressive list of features, unfortunately they are all subpar compared to other Home Gyms from other brands. There are some features that will make you think twice whether this is a good gym or not, like for examples: a 7 degree carriage, the self spotting safety catches on the front or the bench with leg developer. But it just won’t be if you know what to look for.

One major problem with the Marcy Smith Machine is the fact that the leg developer can’t be adjusted, meaning that either you fit in there or you don’t, and if you don’t then you are losing one of the few selling points on this Home Gym. The bushings also are not the best you can find, they do not provide such a smooth and fluid movement.

Just to finish, there are only 8 latch points on this Home Gym for the weight carriage, meaning that it is also one of those things that either you can manage to work with considering how comfortable you can lift weights from those points, or it just isn’t the Home Gym for you.

Overall there are a lot of minus in my book than there are pluses for this Home Gym, and to buy it is a risk that no one should take if you are not willing to find yourself disappointed and losing all your motivation towards weight lifting.

Marcy Smith Machine at a Glance…

Pros:

  1. Cheap price

Cons:

  1. Weak bushings
  2. Lacks quality

The Marcy Smith Machine was built to be sold in great numbers and not thinking too much about the quality of the Home Gym. It is a product that seems like a cheap copy of other much better Home Gyms and should not be considered if you want to buy a good equipment for your house.
