Maybe you don’t expect this from a product to be that good, maybe just another rip off that gets too much air time. But, it is really good fitness equipment and one that for the price and exercises you get, it is a great choice.

The standard model is good as it is, it comes with an exercise chart that has the 80 exercises you can do with the XLs explained, plus four DVD’s for added motivation, expanded Pilates Kit, and you can add a Video display, extra padding for more comfort, all with a 400 pounds user weight.

The Total Gym XLS uses from 6% to 60% of your body weight as resistance for your exercises. You have more than 80 exercises that can be done with this simple and yet effective glider. These exercises are explained to you in the DVD’s and also you have them in workout plans that are in cards that you can choose depending on your workout goals.

Total Gym also has another model that looks very much like the XLS, which is the Total Gym 3000. At first they both do not have many differences, maybe the XLS is larger and it has a stronger construction, like an upgraded version of the 3000. And this just may not be enough for you to pay the difference.

So, what really makes it worth to pay more for the XLS? The extras. The Total Gym XLS has more extra features than the 3000 model, and these make a difference. For instance, the XLS has the training deck, a pilates kit, the upgraded squat stand, and other options.

In the end there isn’t much distance between the two models, but if you can afford to buy the XLS, then this model is the best choice between the two. If you can’t afford the XLs, then even if you buy the 3000, you won’t regret it; it still is a good choice for a home gym and none that will fill your needs for fitness exercise.

The Total Gym 3000 seems like an easy to use home gym with nothing much to it. well, one thing is true, it is easy to use, but there is much more to say about this little fellow that what the eye meets. It has lots of exercises and you still have a squat platform which gives you great options to work out your legs

The only good competition that the 3000 can get is from the 2000 model from the same series of Home Gyms of Total Gym, but even so, the 3000 is the best choice, and for the difference in price you might as well just buy the 3000 and get it done with.

The Total Gym 3000 is way ahead of the 2000. It adds more exercises due to the accessories: a Standard Squat Stand and a Wing Attachment. Which adds to the fact that the best exercises with this machine are for your legs, so the Squat platform only enhances that for you.

It is also built with better materials, we can’t say that it was built to last a lifetime, but it has a solid and sturdy construction. Besides feeling more stable than the 2000 it is also more comfortable, Total Gym added better padding to the 3000.

In general it has the same exercises as the 2000 and other models from the Total Gym catalog. It includes an exercise chart that will show you the positioning to exercise over 60 different ways. And it also has a DVD with all that you can do with the Total Gym 3000. It almost comes out of the box ready to use, and it is easy to store it away, even if it is a bit heavy.

It is a great choice for someone who is looking to lose fat and get in great shape. You can increase your cardio fitness level and do some strength exercises. For better results you do not need to be limited to the 3000, you can do some exercises by your own, some jogging and there you have all that you need to keep in good shape.

The Total Gym 2000 is fit for light strength training. The resistance uses your own weight to create the resistance level, you can control how much of it you use with 6 levels to choose from, that use from 6 to 60% of your body weight as resistance. Do not expect any hardcore large bulky muscles growing out of your body with the 2000, we said light strength traing, good to get fit and in shape.

The best exercises that you can do with the Total Gym 2000 are targeted to the legs, and you can get the best results by focusing on these exercises. More than that you still have choices of cardio and strength exercises, and overall you can pretty much work out your entire body.

There are other models from Total Gym within the series of the 2000, the best is the 3000, just one step ahead of the 2000. The difference you will get for the price you pay will be on accessories, better frame, foam density and some better materials. For a difference of $100 you can just buy whatever model you prefer.

The Total Gym Supra has been out of production. You can still find this model for sale as an used item and for sure there are lots of people trying to sell it out there. It was a good model and had a good construction, but there are new products even within the Total Gym catalog that will surpass the Total Gym Supra and you can find better options at better prices, brand new.

But what the Total Gym Supra had going for it? The whole package besides the machine itself had resistance bands, exercise videos, leg pull and pull up accessories, pilates attachment and a squat stand. Not bad for its price. It is solid, stable and easy to setup, you receive it and take it out of the box and in less than 10 minutes you are ready to try it.

Out of production and outdated

The Total Gym Supra supposedly delivers around 100 exercises, but you have to be creative and some are just small variations of the main exercises. Some users have pointed out that many of these exercises require you to do it in the inverted position, meaning that it isn’t the most comfortable one and one that you can’t exercise for long.

This machine isn’t really for people who want to build up some muscles and get stronger. It helps you to get fit and that is it, don’t expect much more. Even though it used to get all hyped up in commercials and through the internet, the thing is that it really isn’t that much interesting, especially now that are other products much more attractive than the Supra.

It is a great choice if you are limited in space and money and you need some kind of exercise equipment that will lead you to fitness. It is easy to use and fun, if you don’t get all worked out because of all those exercises that are boring and somewhat useless. If you are looking for something that isn’t expensive and doesn’t occupy much space in your house, and you are a beginner and don’t look for anything to please professionals and hardcore bodybuilders, then the Total Gym 1100 fits you like a glove and will meet your needs. No need for bulky home gyms that need a whole room just for themselves, plus an extra room for weights and power rods and stuff, the Total Gym 1100 can even be folded and stored under your bed after you exercise.

As simple as it gets

The Total Gym 1100 is simply an ergonomically designed board that glides back and forth allowing you to stretch and strengthen your muscles, while using your own body weight as resistance in the workout. It weighs just 54 pounds and is easily folded and stored under a bed.

The fact that it only uses 60% of your body weight as resistance may easily be overcome with some months of dedicated exercises, meaning that in no time the machine will no longer be challenging for you and your muscle expectations. It works perfectly if you plan to use it to tone up your body, need a complement to some other machine or just to keep yourself fit when you don’t have time to go out to the gym.

The resistance is controlled by the degree of inclination of the board, can use up to 60% of your body weight and it operates smoothly and quietly. One thing that it is supposed to do is to give you up to 60 exercises, but some of them are just small variations of the same basic exercise. It does indeed provide exercises to work upper and lower body as well and abs, but it won’t go much farther. While you workout it does increase your heart rate rhythm creating some cardio vascular exercise.

It isn’t built to create muscle mass and it is somewhat limited and monotonous to use, if you are the kind of person that discourages easily then the Total Gym 1100 will do that for you very quickly since it doesn’t have much to go for and the exercises may become a boring routine. If not, then this is the machine for you, reasonably cheap and a space saver equipment.
